Wade Marynowsky - The Age- Galleries by Dan Rule www.theage.com.au
"Something is afoot in the darkened, cave-like rear space of John Buckley Gallery. From the foyer, cackles, grunts and squeaks can be heard, underscored by the eerie buzz of a deep drone. On entering the space, things turn a little awry, in the best possible way. Two words: Dancing Robots. Seriously. And Wade Marynowsky's gaggle of four corseted, skirt-twirling robots- showing in Melbourne for the first time after their recent inclusion in the 2nd International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Poland - aren't the kind of automatons to dance quietly. Each of these imposing, bell-shaped beasties has its own personality. It's a joy. Marynowsky has struck a bizarre balance between science fiction and spaghetti western in an exhibition that will astound and delight those all ages." - Dan Rule

David Stephenson - Light Cities an interview from New York by Alan Rapp for Domus www.domusweb.it
"There is a latent sense of terror in the sublime. In the context of my work you may wonder about the sustainability of our way of life. Somehow the light factor in these photographs conveys both the aspirations of humans, but also suggest total environmental collapse by the way we drain energy from some sites and pump them to other sites." - David Stephenson; excerpt from interview with Alan Rapp
Wade Marynowsky - Featured; Making it internationally in media arts- Julianne Pierce: Australian media artists overseas. www.realtimearts.net
"Emerging Australian artists are also starting to find their feet in the international arena. Sydney based Wade Marynowsky was recently included in the 2010 Mediations Biennale in Poznan, Poland and also in 2010 showed his installation Bricolage Disco at ST PAUL St Gallery in Auckland. He has commented that these opportunities have arisen from meeting international curators who have visited Australia, with introductions through the likes of Fiona Winning and Mike Leggett. Inclusion in international exhibitions opens new doors and exposes younger artists to the work of important international figures. Marynowksy says about Poznan, “it was important to show the work overseas to access new audiences and for professional development; it was also my first experience of exhibiting in an international biennale. This was exciting for me as I was shown amongst some media art big names such as Ken Feingold, Luc Courchesne and Eduardo Kac.” - Julianne Pierce

Dale Hickey - Conceptual Ascetic by Christopher Allen The Australian www.theaustralian.com.au/news/arts/
"Rooney collected the works of other artists working in the same way, and many of these pieces are included in the exhibition. One of the best known of the period is Dale Hickey's 90 white walls (1970), which also uses a file box, in which black-and-white photographs are pasted on to file cards. The pictures are of white walls, as the title makes clear, and the index specifies the buildings and rooms where they were taken and the compass orientation. The pictures themselves are all in shades of grey, reflecting the light conditions in the rooms rather than the inherent colour of the wall." - Christopher Allen
Simon Strong - New world born of ancient myths; The Green Wood reviewed by Robert Nelson in The Age www.theage.com.au
"Simon Strong has developed a weird and spooky body of work that draws upon mythological traditions. Called The Green Wood, the prints at John Buckley Gallery belong to a kind of digital Gothic, representing a fantasy land of hybrid beings, bedevilled hollows, erotic dryads, stumps and carcasses of trees that grow into figures who burn and rape, seductive gardens, blasted architecture and calming rain. In all, it makes a lurid convulsive photographic landscape of swoon and nightmare" - Robert Nelson
