PETER D. COLE

In 1968 Cole completed a Diploma in Fine Art (Sculpture) at the South Australian School of Art, and was awarded the HP Gill Medal and the Contemporary Art Society Drawing Prize. From 1973 to 1992 he was the lecturer in charge of sculpture at the Phillip Institute of Technology, Melbourne.

Cole has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally since the early seventies. Exhibition highlights include the Carpenter Centre for Visual Arts, Harvard university,1995; Australian Sculpture Triennial, Melbourne, 1981, 1984 and 1990; Volume and Form, Singapore, 1990; Tokyo Designers Block Idée, Tokyo, 2002; National Sculpture Prize and Exhibition, This was the Future, Heide Museum of Modern Art 2003; National Gallery of Australia, Canberra 2003; Site Unseen, Bendigo Art Gallery, 2003.

Peter D. Cole has been commissioned to create major artworks for public sites including Foundation Park, The Rocks, Sydney, for which Cole was awarded the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Award for Merit in 1995 and the Australian National Heritage Trust Award 1996. He has also created works for Chiefly Tower, Sydney; Thredbo Alpine Village; Brisbane International Airport; Sydney Casino; BHP and Freshwater Place, Southbank Melbourne. His work is held in public and corporate collections including Artbank, Crown Casino, Monash University, Parliament House and the Australian National Gallery and private collections in Australia, USA. UK, Israel and Japan.
